A hugely proud day for Gorey RFC and Enniscorthy RFC as our new combined U20s project North Wexford U20s XV officially got underway today.
This is a really exciting step for both clubs. Bringing two proud rugby clubs together to give our young players the opportunity to keep playing, keep developing and keep enjoying their rugby at U20 level is something everyone involved should be extremely proud of.
And what a start from the lads!
The result might not have gone our way today, but there was so much to be positive about. A terrific team performance from a group that is only beginning its journey together. A few easy fixes, a few work-ons and plenty more time together — there is huge potential in this squad.
One thing is certain: this Gorey/Enniscorthy combination is going to be a handful for anyone in the JP Flanagan League this season!
A massive congratulations and thank you to everyone at Gorey RFC and Enniscorthy RFC who worked behind the scenes to make this happen — coaches, managers, committees, parents and, most importantly, the players who have bought into the idea and made today possible.
Two clubs. One squad. A new chapter.
The U20s project is officially underway — and we can’t wait to see where these lads can take it.
