This Saturday, Gorey RFC will proudly host the very first Aidan “The Fridge” Kelly Memorial U14 Tournament, in memory of a much-loved member of our club and community who sadly passed away last year.
Aidan was a tremendous rugby man. He was a fine player for Gorey RFC, but his contribution to the club went far beyond his time on the pitch. He volunteered tirelessly, ran the sideline for countless matches and was always willing to help wherever he was needed.
That spirit of giving was very much part of who Aidan was. He came from a family with a long tradition of putting so much back into the local community, and Aidan himself made an enormous contribution through his work with Special Olympics and the wider movement.
He was a big man with an even bigger heart — a gentleman in every sense of the word. Softly spoken, kind, generous and always a pleasure to deal with.
Away from rugby, Aidan also had a huge love of music and regularly played live gigs around the country, bringing the same warmth and character to the stage that he brought to everything else in life.
To honour his memory, Gorey RFC is delighted to host the inaugural Aidan “The Fridge” Kelly Memorial Tournament this Saturday.

We are delighted to welcome teams from Wicklow, Enniscorthy, Wexford, Clonmel and the AR Vikings to Gorey for what we hope will become a very special annual occasion.
We would love to see as many people as possible come up to the club, support all of the young players taking part and, most importantly, join us in remembering Aidan.
A fitting day of rugby, friendship and community in memory of a man who gave so much of himself to others.
