Everyone at Gorey RFC was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Philip “Goose” Doyle.

Goose made an enormous contribution to Irish rugby throughout his distinguished coaching career. His passion, knowledge and dedication to the game left a lasting impact on countless players, coaches and clubs, both in Ireland and beyond.

He will perhaps be best remembered for leading Ireland Women to a Grand Slam in 2013 and to the Rugby World Cup semi-finals in 2014, achievements that helped inspire a generation of players and supporters.

Goose made profound contributions to many squads over the years at Gorey, always there to help and guide squads. With Nicola managing and Goose as Girls coach they helped build Girl's and Women's rugby at the club. From 2016-2018 he coached the U17 boys, reaching the Cup and League Finals, winning the Cup.

On behalf of everyone at Gorey RFC, we extend our sincere condolences to Philip’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. His legacy will not be forgotten.

May he rest in peace.
