Aoife Wafer began her rugby journey right here at Gorey RFC, first picking up a ball at just six years of age. Playing her early rugby with the club’s youth teams, she quickly stood out for her determination, skill, and natural athletic ability.

From those early days in Gorey, Aoife progressed through the ranks, going on to represent Enniscorthy RFC, Leinster, and ultimately Ireland on the international stage. She's a dynamic back-row forward, she has earned recognition for her physicality, work rate, and versatility.

Since making her senior debut for Ireland in 2022, Aoife has become a key figure in the national setup, delivering standout performances in major competitions including the Women’s Six Nations. Her achievements have seen her recognised among the top players in the world, as well as securing a professional contract with leading English club Harlequins.

Everyone at Gorey RFC is immensely proud to have played a part in Aoife’s development, and she remains a fantastic example to young players in the club of what can be achieved through dedication, hard work, and a love of the game.
