Navan 19 – 29 Gorey RFC

Gorey RFC Senior Women made the perfect start to their Senior Cup campaign with an impressive 29–19 away win over a strong Navan side.

From the opening whistle, Gorey set the tone with high intensity and physicality, taking control of territory early on. Their forward pack laid a solid platform, carrying hard and recycling quick ball, which allowed the backs to play with confidence and width.

The breakthrough came after sustained pressure, with Gorey crossing for their opening try following a series of powerful phases. Navan responded with a score of their own to keep things competitive, but Gorey’s composure and structure ensured they stayed in control.

As the game developed, Gorey began to pull away with some excellent attacking rugby. Sharp handling, intelligent support lines, and strong finishing saw them add further tries, while the defence stood firm when called upon, limiting Navan’s opportunities.

Despite Navan’s efforts to get back into the game, Gorey’s discipline and work rate proved decisive. A well-taken final score sealed a deserved 29–19 victory and a place in the next round.
