Gorey U16 Boys put in a dominant display at home today, securing an impressive 35–5 win over Portlaoise in Clonattin Road.
From the outset, Gorey played with intent, using strong carries from the forwards and sharp handling in the backs to pin Portlaoise deep in their own half. Their pressure was rewarded with a series of well-worked tries, built on quick ruck ball and intelligent support running.
Defensively, Gorey were just as strong, repeatedly knocking back Portlaoise runners and winning key turnovers.
Portlaoise did manage to cross for a deserved try, but Gorey responded in style, finishing the game strongly and rounding off a convincing bonus-point victory.
