U14s Boys Leinster league win.
Gorey 34 Midland Warriors 17.

Saturday 8/11 saw Gorey catch an early bus for the long spin to Moate for a Leinster league clash with Midland Warriors. A large travelling party was kindly facilitated by our hosts allowing for big squad rotation and game time for all. Rotation led to a somewhat scrappy game, things just not clicking like they should despite the boys efforts.

Dave popped a nice pass to supporting Finn to open our account early on in the game. Warriors used penalty advantage to score shortly afterwards to keep things tied up at half time.

The second half started  better with direct running from Ronan ending in a try. A good scrum and a clever switch play had Andrew crash over to score with Alex converting .17-5

Thomas's familiar unforgiving surge set up the forwards for a series of good carries , Thomas finishing off the try, Harry converting .22-5.

Warriors presure resulted in a try after a fumble behind our line .22-10.

Almost immediately strong running and some sloppy Gorey defence had Warriors cross again, the kick making it 22-17.

Thomas scored off the back of the scrum to settle the nerves somewhat .

The game was put to bed with a nice 1-2 between Ronan and Zander, Hugh running a great big man support line and taking the try, the conversion bringing full time at 34-17.

The rotation and the resulting disjointed performance gives some valuable takeaways for players and coaches.

Man of the match went to this weeks 10 Jack, doing well in an unfamiliar  role with a tackle count 2 flankers would be proud of.
Next week, we are on the Leinster road again to face New Ross.
