Gorey faced a physically imposing Boyne outfit but out-thought them with smart tactics and sharp execution. After an arm-wrestle in the opening quarter, Gorey’s composure told: Harry Darcy finished a well-worked move for the opener before Jack Sheehan powered over following sustained pressure. Boyne hit back, but Gorey’s set-piece control and discipline in the contact kept momentum.
In the second half, relentless line speed and accurate kicking pinned Boyne deep. Charlie “Chopper” Donovan sealed it with a clinical finish after multiphase build-up. Fly-half Rory Cooper was flawless from the tee, converting all three tries to cap a mature team performance. A rock-solid defensive stand in the closing minutes ensured a deserved 24–10 win.
