On Sunday the 7th of September our under 13’s headed to Rathdrum for their first official game of the season against AR Vikings.

What started out to be a wet and blustery morning soon cleared up once our boys started playing.

The game started off positive for both sides, with both teams having good spells of possession. In the 6th minute of the game our very own Fiachra Kearney broke through and scored our first try of the season with Ronán McManus converting. Soon after a very fast paced Joey O’ Sullivan shot through to score our second try aided by great work from Fionn Morris. A Second try for Fiachra came in the 15th minute right in the corner but was unconverted. In the last five minutes of the first half the game ebbed and flowed
with both sides showing great determination and grit.

The first minute of the second half Joey O’ Sullivan took off down the wing and headed straight in under the post to score his second try of the game. It was converted by Fionn Morris. In the 25th minute Emmet Tighe got the ball across the line to score Gorey’s fifth try of the game and it was converted by Fionn Morris. There was a great display from both sides with their tackling, scrums and passing before Naill Kavanagh caught the ball from a clearance, darted for the line passed it off to Joey O’ Sullivan who finished off with his third try. Every player contributed to a great game of Rugby.
