After years of planning and tireless fundraising by our dedicated volunteers, Gorey RFC is proud to announce the start of a major upgrade to our club facilities. Today, we officially broke ground on a brand-new lit walking path—just the first step in a series of exciting enhancements set to transform our grounds over the next 12 months.
As part of this development, both the Firsts and Seconds pitches will benefit from a complete lighting upgrade. The Firsts Pitch, in particular, will see lighting levels rise from under 200 LUX to 500 LUX, bringing our facilities in line with the requirements to host a broader range of Provincial and National competitions. This transition from outdated halogen lights to modern, energy-efficient LED systems not only reduces costs but also ensures brighter, more consistent lighting for players and supporters alike.
The new walking path will be fully lit, providing a safe and welcoming space for members of the community to enjoy year-round. In addition, improved training lights will make winter sessions more accessible and effective for all age groups, ensuring our players—from minis to seniors—have the best environment to develop their skills.
These upgrades form part of Gorey RFC’s Multi-Year Development Plan, which is focused on delivering top-quality facilities that serve both the club and the wider community. With these investments, we are building a stronger foundation for the present while creating opportunities for the future stars of Gorey rugby.
