Sunday Feb 9th had the boys up early to travel to North Meath for our 1st game in the Leinster Cup.
The game started with a great storming carry and try from Andrew and quickly turned into a Gorey try fest with everyone loosing track of the score, so we won't relive them all here.
With our first knockout win never in doubt, Gorey tried to make as much from the game as possible. The coaches tried to leave the boys to make their own choices for much of the game, and overall they did quite well and learned a few important lessons.
Mostly the team, captained by Sam, made pretty good decisions for the right reasons, however they did learn the importance of supporting ball carriers all the way and being constantly alert in defense.
With plenty of positional and personnel changes throughout the game the boys had a dominant performance, if a little unfocused at times due in part to the level of the challenge they faced. We will have plenty of tougher opposition to face in the coming weeks and will very much need to play to a much higher standard than was required today.
Pleasing for the coaches ...
Keeping a clean sheet today.
Our usual few regular performers put in a good shift again today,
Our Subs came on and did a great job, particularly Tadgh who had a great impact and was awarded Man of the Match.
