After the rain of the few previous days, it was a slow and heavy pitch for the return match against New Ross in the SE League.
The match started with good possession by Gorey, and after 5 minutes Orla fought her way over for a super try. 4 minutes later New Ross struck back with a try to level the scores 5-5.
There were no more scores in the first half but there was plenty of effort. Highlights for Gorey included Lily who poached 4 turnovers and the forwards tried some new moves which gained ground.
The second half was a battle; there was chances for Gorey but they didn’t quite work out. There was good defence when New Ross got over the line but were held up by Amy and the team. It was 20 into the half before the first score and it went to New Ross. Right at the end, NR got another try leaving the final score at 5-17. For a long time, the match was in the balance and could have gone either way. New Ross plenty showed grit and determination, well played to them.
