A blustery but mainly dry Sunday Nov24th saw Gorey U13's host Naas in the Leinster League in a 2pm kick-off.
Naas certainly came to play with some great tackling on display keeping the scoreboard quiet for almost 20 mins despite some probing running by Gorey.
The pressure finally paid off after some touch line to touch line passing led to a try for Paddy in the corner.
With the wind in their sails, pressure from the kick-off and a training park forwards move resulted in No.8 Eoin Wafer powering over the line with the added horsepower from Hugh, again the wind proving too difficult for the conversion.
Shortly after the break a big tackle deep in Naas territory from Andrew who followed up really well with Dave to win a quick ruck and scrumhalf Noah sniped a try in the corner, topped off with a great conversion from Harry.
After the kick-off a good clearance kick had Gorey back in the Naas 22.
Great lineout pressure and a turnover penalty from Thomas gives Hugh the opportunity to crash over from close range, converted by Harry.
Gorey kept up the pressure and a brilliant phase of rucking, picking and offloading ends in a try for Oisin, converted by Harry.
In the last passage of play in the official 40 minutes, Harry capped off his man of the match performance with a lovely intercept try which he duly converted.
A big personnel change and a few positional shifts in the final 3rd led to slightly disjointed play by Gorey with Nass getting in for 2 well deserved scores.
Another great performance from the team and great to see some of the training park moves and plans coming off.
Special mentions to Alex who had a great performance off the bench on his return from injury, Sam who had a great day rucking and harassing the opposition ball carriers and David who showed some great grit in a few tackles and rucks.
Well done again team keep working hard and on to our next challenge.
