Despite the murky weather, Gorey U13s kicked off with a strong start, scoring a try within the first few minutes. The team showcased excellent tackling, defensive pressure, and support play, leading to a halftime score of three tries by Andrew and two by Harry. Harry also successfully converted three out of five attempts.
The second 20 minutes mirrored the first, with Gorey maintaining solid defense and attack. Sam, Oisin, and Conn added to the scoreboard with well-executed tries, while Harry and Oisin contributed with conversions. By the end of the second 20, Gorey had a commanding lead and a clean sheet.
In the unofficial third 20, a rotated squad continued the momentum with Conn scoring a try, converted by Donagh. However, Portarlington found their rhythm and managed to score a few tries.
The coaches were thrilled with the overall team performance, particularly highlighting the defensive pressure and organization. Special mentions go to Man of the Match, Charlie Devereux, for his crucial contributions in both attack and defence, and to Adam Keating for his relentless effort and nuisance value on the field.
