A wet and cool afternoon saw Enniscorthy host Gorey U13s in the Southeast League, setting the stage for a thrilling encounter. A few injuries and unavailable players forced some changes to the squad to face the challenge of Enniscorthy at home, just weeks after Gorey's home victory over them.

Gorey started the match strongly, with great pressure and support play. Harry Swaine executed a clever kick that led to a Zach Bailey try within the first five minutes, which Harry then converted. By the 18th minute, Gorey's defensive pressure had pushed Enniscorthy well back into their 22, allowing Harry to capitalize and score another try, which he also converted. The first 20 minutes ended with Gorey leading 14-0.

The second half began similarly, with Gorey maintaining their momentum. A good phase of team play, featuring strong carries from Charlie Devereux, Harry Swaine, and Andrew Bailey, culminated in Harry scoring his second try, converted by Oisin White. Moments later, further pressure from Gorey, including excellent rucking by the pack and lovely passing by the backs, enabled Zach to cross for his second try, converted by Harry. Gorey was firmly in control with a score of 28-0.  However, in the last few minutes of the official second 20, things took an unexpected turn. Enniscorthy capitalized with every decision going their way, scoring two converted tries in the final five minutes, bringing the score to 28-14.

An additional 10 minutes of play allowed everyone game time. Despite the challenges, Gorey came out on top with a try from the day's Captain, Dave Doyle, which was converted by Harry. Special mentions go to the ever-reliable Jack Robins and Andrew Bailey, as well as Jack Curley for his good performance. Man of the match was Harry Swaine.

As coaches, we are extremely proud of our team of great young lads and their weekly progress. They played some exceptional rugby today and conducted themselves admirably in the face of frustrating and hard-to-understand situations.

Well done boys!
