The U14 boys hosted Athy at home on Saturday 12th, the boys started strong with Sam making a burst for the line from the kick-off, unfortunately he was stopped short and the ball turned over with Athy startling Gorey and turning our mistake into their first try!
Both teams were fighting neck and neck with Charlie Kennedy scoring 2 great tries and Athy scoring 3 more in the first half bringing the halftime score to 22-17 in favour of the visitors.
Unfortunately for our lads, Athy were the better side in the second half, they quickly put another 5 tries on the board which were unanswered by Gorey until Zach Rath crossed the line after a well fought forwards battle that saw Gorey advance over forty yards through over a dozen clean phases of rucking.
Athy were an excellent side, they were well prepared, had great set pieces which they executed brilliantly. All credit to Athy, they came to win and win they did!
Score 24-54
