Friday night lights were the order of the day for our under 18.5 girls as they took on Wicklow in Gorey 

The opening was very tense with both sides going hard at each other but Gorey were the first to break through with a quick penalty in the Wicklow 22’ by Sina white releasing Usha Daly O'Toole who went over for the first try 5-0 Wicklow quickly responded with a try and conversion of their own 5-7. Wicklow crossed for another try and converted 5-14. But Gorey came out from the restart, with a slick back move resulting in Niamh Ryan going over for a try but failing to convert 10-14. However just on halftime Wicklow again struck for a try and conversion finishing the half 10-21 to Wicklow 

The second half started much the same as the first half with both teams going at each other and like the first half Gorey went over for a try and converting it 17-21 but then Wicklow in the next 20 mins added two more try’s and a conversion to lead 17-33.

However Gorey were not finished and following on from sustained pressure with twice the ball being held up over the Wicklow try line Gorey’s Usha went over for a try 22-33. Gorey put tremendous pressure on Wicklow resulting in a great intercept from Ailbhe Byrne on the half way line no one could stop her from touching down under the posts followed by a successful conversion 29-33 the last few minutes saw all out attack from Gorey but Wicklow’s Defense held strong. The match ended with Gorey going away with a losing bonus point after a great match, and 1 all in the Gorey V Wicklow Saga this season so far to be continued!!!!!
