A beautiful sunny autumn day in Gorey was the setting for U16 Girls Team 4th South-East League match.

It took a few possessions today to get into the game and even though there a few knock-ons early on by Gorey, there was also some good defense with a steal by Orla and a push out of touch to get the ball back for Gorey.

Gorey scored first with a super line break try by Aoibhin. After the kickoff there was some strong carries by Dearbhail, Jessica, Emer, Amy and Ellen only for the ball to be stolen on the Enniscorthy line.  The second score started with a Gorey scrum under allot of pressure, but the girls held on to the ball, and it was well used by Ciara and then Jessica who touched down. Enniscorthy hit back with their no 1 scoring a try. The girls responded with 2 more super tries before half time from Zara and Amy. All 4 first half tries were converted by Emer and Amy, leaving the score 28-5.

The second half started with 2 tries by Enniscorthy to close the score to 28-15. But the girls dug in and got 3 tries from Amy, Aoibhin and Ciara. The final score was 45-15 to Gorey.

As always, the subs were invaluable with good play by Lilly, Emma, Ellen, Heather and Aobh. It was great to see Siera, Zoe and Mia supporting their team mates even though they were unable to play.
