Friday night saw Gorey U13's playing away to Wexford. Despite a few changes to the starting line-up this week, Gorey started strong. After ten minutes, most of which were spent in the Wexford half, good passing led to a try by Zack, which was converted by Harry. On the stroke of halftime, a good carry by Eoin Wafer from the scrum saw the number 8 power over the line again, with Harry converting once more. The halftime score was 14-0 to Gorey.
The second half started much like the first, with pressure leading to Zack scoring his second try in ten minutes, again converted by Harry. A few minutes later, another big carry from number 8, Eoin, with the forwards and backs supporting, resulted in a well-finished try by Conn, though Oisin missed a difficult conversion.
A clever kick through by Alex was well capitalized on by Oisin, who was well supported, giving Zack the chance for a hat trick, again converted by Harry. A late change by Wexford and a lapse by Gorey led to a well-taken individual Wexford try. The final score was 33-5.
It was a great team performance with some fresh faces in unfamiliar positions. Special mention to Andrew for a massive, Man of the Match performance at number 6, Jack Robbins for a reliable and solid performance at 15, and Sam at number 7 for working hard on his tackle count.
