U18.5 GOREY V WICKLOW

Southeast League Round 1

On Saturday the u18.5 Gorey girls were drawn to play Wicklow Rfc  in Wicklow on a beautiful sunny day

The first try came very quickly with a lovely cross field kick that bounced nicely for Gorey winger Elise Wan who ran in for the try which was converted by Alex Byrne. 

7-0 From the restart the Wicklow girls came out hard with there forwards making the hard yards down into the Gorey 22, but Gorey regained possession and with a sweeping move went the length of the pitch with Elise Wan going over for her second try converted again by Alex Byrne 14-0.

Goreys third try came from a quick penalty that was stopped one yard from the try line, Gorey recycled the ball and Alex Byrne powered over for a try and then coolly converted it 21-0.

But Wicklow were far from done and took advantage of some Gorey injuries and scored two tries before half time to make it 21-12.

Wicklow came again at the start  of the second half and  scored a well worked try 21-19.

After that the play was end to end with neither team able to cross the line. The heat was taking a big toll on the girls with both teams taking on water any chance they could. Gorey managed to score a penalty kicked by Alex Byrne 24-19 In the end Gorey came out Victorious 24-19
