Sunday 28th Gorey u14s traveled to play Wicklow in the Southeast league. A lovely fine day saw a changed up look to the team with squad and positional rotation.
Captained by Paddy in the 1st half Gorey got off to a strong start and Ronan opened the score in the 2nd minute from the back of the scrum. Moments later Thomas stormed up the pitch to score in the corner.
More dominance from Gorey with some direct pick and go action ,ended with a Jeremie try in the same corner as the 1st 2 this time our new kicker Thomas got his angles right and added the conversion. 17-0
About the 20th minute Wicklow took their chance and scored a converted try.
Gorey came back strong with a good J Curley run resulting in a held up try, but from the resulting goal line drop-out, Ronan crashed over again, Andrew also on kicking debut converting. Jack at 10 claimed the restart and fed Andrew who ran half the pitch to score Thomas converting. 1st half ends 31- 7
Wholesale changes for the 2nd half but Gorey started strong after some big carries by the team Ronan scored again converted by Harry.
Straight from the kick-off Ronan claimed and ran in another impressive score for Alex to convert 45-7.
Same again from the kick-off but this time its J Curley who covers a lot of ground to score,not converted 50-7.
For the final 15 or so mins the boys lost their shape and fight somewhat and Wicklow put in a spirited comeback with 4 unanswered try's apart from one good chance where Noah was deemed held up .

Man of the match this week goes to our 2nd half captain Adam, for his usual massive efforts particularly in marshaling his troops and his solid defence.
A good result away from home with plenty of exposure to different positions and valuable gametime for many of the boys,with a few learnings about closing the game out hopefully taken on board.
